Southwest Roots Music Presents 13th Annual Thirsty Ear Festival in Santa Fe, New Mexico June 2012

Santa Fe, NM (PRWEB) May 18, 2012

The heart of this year’s Thirst Ear Festival is at Santa Fe Sol, with satellite events at other venues. The event offers separately ticketed shows and an ALL PASS, which gives patrons access to all venues and each event at any time. This is New Mexico’s premier roots music event. It features a healthy dose of American, blues, and hillbilly punk among a variety of genres of music. The kickoff party at Santa Fe Sol starts off 7 p.m., Thursday, June 7, and features the Legendary Shack Shakers along with a few other musical performers. The Thirsty Ear Festival is a featured event on SantaFe.com

All shows offered at the Thirsty Ear Festival are all ages and kids get in free. Each and every one of the events being put on at Santa Fe Sol offer the popular Kids Corral that includes arts, games and crafts. On Sunday, June 10th, tickets are only $ 15 for adults (only $ 10 if patrons are wearing a Thirsty Ear Festival t-shirt). The Kids Corral features lots of music and special kids’ performances, including an African drumming session for kids with master Nigerian drummer Akeem Ayanniyi. Kids must be accompanies by adults at all times.

WHAT TO EXPECT & WHAT TO BRING: Santa Fe Sol features both indoor and outdoor stages, and plenty of food, beverages, and a full array of craft brews. The main stage is outside so patrons are reminded to bring lawn chairs (full size is fine), sunscreen, blankets, umbrellas, warm clothes for the evening, and anything else that might need for an outdoor event. Tents and anything else that might obstruct views are not allowed. Coolers, alcohol, glassware, pets and flash cameras are not allowed. Food is allowed but coolers are not allowed at all. The festival is a non-smoking event.

Two Santa Fe hotels are offering special discounted rates during the Thirsty Ear Festival and they are as follows:

Inn at Santa Fe (888-871-7138): A nice, moderately priced hotel that is closest to both the Thirsty Ear Festival and Sol Santa Fe.
